Mujtaba Aziz Naza Discloses 'Dongri Ke Sultan' Omitted from 'Dhurandhar: The Revenge'
Singer Mujtaba Aziz Naza has revealed that the song 'Dongri Ke Sultan', filmed on a massive scale in Mumbai, was cut from the final edit of Aditya Dhar's espionage thriller 'Dhurandhar: The Revenge'. Despite the film's nearly four-hour runtime, the director had to leave out significant footage, including this elaborate musical sequence.
Details of the Omitted Song and Its Filming
In an interview with Mid-Day, Naza shared insights into the filming process. He explained that three songs were shot: 'Dongri Ke Sultan', a cover of 'Jumma Chumma De De', and 'Apni Toh Jaise Taise'. The setup for 'Dongri Ke Sultan' was particularly grand, featuring actors Ranveer Singh and Rakesh Bedi in a car, with a band performing on a truck. The shoot took place over an entire day in South Mumbai during Ramadan 2025.
Naza described the scene as depicting Ranveer Singh's character returning from winning an election, filled with fun and a large audience, including at least ten cars. He emphasized the elaborate production, with drummers in front, a band on a truck, and cameras positioned on buildings and ground floors. Director Aditya Dhar had to repeatedly request residents not to record with mobile phones during the live recording.
Praise for Director Aditya Dhar and Future Plans
During the interview, Naza praised Aditya Dhar for his direction and suggestions. Dhar encouraged Naza to sing and play his bongo instrument with more swing, leading to a memorable filming experience. Naza expressed gratitude for working with Dhar and highlighted his previous collaborations with Ranveer Singh in films like 'Bajirao Mastani' and 'Padmaavat'.
Despite the song's exclusion from the film, Naza announced plans to release an official video for 'Dongri Ke Sultan'. He stated that his team is currently working on the video, aiming to launch it soon, as fan clubs have shown interest in the track.
