SRK's Bond with Dev Anand: Smoking Advice & London Meeting

Shah Rukh Khan consistently shows immense respect for his seniors in Bollywood. He holds figures like Amitabh Bachchan and the late Dilip Kumar in high regard. Now, a fresh story highlights his special connection with another legend, Dev Anand.

Dev Anand's Friend Shares Personal Memories

Mohan Churiwala, a close friend of Dev Anand, recently opened up about the bond between the two stars. He recalled a memorable incident at a party hosted by Anil Ambani. Churiwala noticed Shah Rukh Khan discreetly leaning down to blow out cigarette smoke.

A Caring Piece of Advice

"Dev sahab told him, 'Shah Rukh yaar, tu kyun smoke karta hai? Tu kitna achha ladka hai. Chhod de, isko chhod de,'" Churiwala shared during a chat with Vickey Lalwani. This translates to, "Shah Rukh, why do you smoke so much? You're such a nice boy. Just quit this."

Shah Rukh responded with a smile and said, "I will try." Churiwala emphasized that the superstar respected Dev Anand a great deal. This moment shows the elder actor's genuine concern for Shah Rukh's well-being.

A Joyful Meeting in London

Another heartwarming memory unfolded in London. Churiwala was having coffee with Dev Anand at a five-star hotel café. Gauri Khan, seated nearby with Sussanne Khan, recognized the legendary actor and walked over to greet him.

"They came up to him and said, 'Hello sir!' 'Hi Gauri, how are you?' 'Arey sir, you identified me!' 'Who doesn't recognise you?'" Churiwala recounted the lively exchange.

Gauri immediately called Shah Rukh Khan to excitedly share the moment. "They jumped with joy. Achha khasa drama ho gaya restaurant mein," Churiwala added, meaning some nice drama happened in the restaurant.

Shah Rukh Khan on Dev Anand's Influence

Shah Rukh Khan has also spoken publicly about how Dev Anand influenced him. At a 2018 event, while discussing failure and perseverance, he shared advice that stayed with him over the years.

"I met Dev Anand once and he said, 'When I see you I feel if you would stop working, you will be finished.' I think that stayed with me," Shah Rukh revealed.

He explained how this guidance shaped his work ethic. "So, I just do hard work. If a film works, I do not sit on its success and keep showering praises on myself nor do I stop for negative criticism."

These stories paint a vivid picture of mutual admiration between two generations of Bollywood icons. They highlight personal moments that go beyond the screen, showing deep respect and lasting impact.
