Suniel Shetty Opens Up About Nepotism and Son Ahan's Journey in Border 2
The highly anticipated Bollywood film Border 2, starring Sunny Deol, Diljit Dosanjh, Varun Dhawan, and Ahan Shetty, has finally hit theatres today. As fans flock to cinemas to witness this cinematic spectacle, veteran actor Suniel Shetty, who was part of the original Border film, has shared a deeply emotional note for his son Ahan on this momentous occasion.
Suniel Shetty's Candid Take on Nepotism in Bollywood
In a revealing conversation on Peeping Moon's Benchmark Conversations podcast, Suniel Shetty expressed his strong disapproval of the term nepotism. He firmly stated that there is no such thing as nepotism, emphasizing that every parent naturally desires their child to succeed in life. According to Shetty, the concept is simply a way of life and how generations continue to progress.
"I don't like the word nepotism. There's no such thing as nepotism," declared Suniel Shetty during the podcast. "People may call my son a nepo kid, but every father wants his child to do well and move forward in life. Somewhere down the line, it's a way of life. It's how generations continue."
He further elaborated by sharing a personal example, noting that he got the opportunity to run a restaurant because his father used to run one. Shetty acknowledged that privileged individuals do get opportunities, but he stressed that it ultimately depends on how individuals make use of those chances.
Debunking the Myth of Spoiled Nepo Kids
Suniel Shetty challenged the common perception that nepotism equates to spoiled children. He argued that this belief is far from the truth and cited Varun Dhawan as a prime example to support his viewpoint. According to Shetty, Varun Dhawan often speaks more enthusiastically about Ahan Shetty's role in Border 2 than about his own performance.
"Everyone thinks nepotism means spoiled kids, but that's not true," asserted Suniel Shetty. "Today, it's Varun who is speaking so highly about Ahan everywhere. Varun talks less about his own role and more about Ahan's role. That says a lot about so-called nepo kids."
The Strong Bond Among Border 2 Cast Members
Suniel Shetty also spoke glowingly about the supportive environment on the set of Border 2, which has provided his son Ahan with the right team and mentorship. He revealed that Sunny Deol acted like a mentor to Ahan, looking after him as if he were his own son. Additionally, the bond between Diljit Dosanjh and Ahan Shetty has grown remarkably close, with Diljit showing immense affection for the young actor.
"Sunny Deol was like a mentor to Ahan and looked after him like his own son," shared Suniel Shetty. "Diljit and Ahan are very close today, and he absolutely loves him."
Ahan Shetty's Heartfelt Tribute to Co-Stars
Meanwhile, Ahan Shetty recently took to Instagram to express his gratitude towards the cast and creators of Border 2. In his heartfelt note, he not only referred to Sunny Deol as a father figure but also thanked Varun Dhawan for the brotherly love and support he received throughout the filming process.
The release of Border 2 marks a significant milestone in Ahan Shetty's career, and the overwhelming support from veteran actors like Sunny Deol and Varun Dhawan highlights the collaborative spirit within the Bollywood industry. As the film continues to draw audiences to theatres, Suniel Shetty's candid reflections on nepotism and family support offer a fresh perspective on the ongoing debates surrounding privilege and opportunity in Indian cinema.
