Sunil Pal Ends Long-Standing Criticism, Lauds Kapil Sharma as Comedy Icon

In a surprising turn of events, comedian Sunil Pal, known for his vocal critiques of Kapil Sharma's comedy style and show content, has now extended heartfelt praise to the celebrated host and actor. During a recent interview, Pal emphatically clarified that there exists no rivalry between the two comedians, describing their relationship as positive and respectful.

From Critic to Admirer: Sunil Pal's Change of Heart

Speaking exclusively to Meri Saheli, Sunil Pal directly addressed persistent rumors of a fallout with Kapil Sharma. "I don't have any issues with Kapil Sharma. In fact, I am a huge fan," Pal declared. He highlighted Sharma's remarkable career longevity, noting, "Kapil has been running his show for over 12 years now. He has been doing a great job and always ensures his friends grow as well." Pal crowned Sharma with the title of "the highest-paid comedian in the world," a significant endorsement from a fellow industry veteran.

Clarifying Absence from The Kapil Sharma Show

When questioned about his infrequent appearances on Sharma's popular program, Sunil Pal provided a candid explanation. "I have never asked Kapil to take me on his show," he stated. Contrary to speculation, Pal revealed that Sharma has repeatedly invited him to the set. "In fact, he has invited me to his set multiple times. He often tells me, 'Please do come here, visit us.' He loves me a lot," Pal shared. However, he expressed a personal principle: "I will only go to him when I feel he truly needs me. Otherwise, there is literally a langar on his show — half of Punjab is on it."

Historical Context of Sunil Pal's Previous Criticisms

This new stance marks a dramatic shift from Pal's earlier, highly critical comments. On multiple occasions, he had publicly slammed Kapil Sharma's show, even creating social media videos that mockingly compared the program to pornography. Pal once harshly criticized the makers of The Kapil Sharma Show for using what he termed 'inappropriate and vulgar' language in promotional materials.

In a past interview with Sidharth Kanan, Pal offered a more nuanced, though still critical, perspective. He acknowledged Sharma's impact, saying, "In the last 40 years, the great Johnny Lever is the only one who truly defined his era and inspired change. I am his devotee and fan. Besides him, I saw a strong force in Kapil Sharma. He reinvented himself — and even Sunil Grover." However, he lamented that "in the last 20 years, there are hardly five people I've seen evolve," criticizing many comedians for relying on stale market jokes and old artist mimicry.

In that same conversation, Pal expressed discomfort with co-star Sunil Grover's cross-dressed character on the show, stating it made him feel sick and very uncomfortable. This history of pointed critiques makes his current praise all the more noteworthy and signals a potential reconciliation within the comedy community.
