The Treasurer of the Ram Temple Trust confirmed on Tuesday that all valuable articles donated to the temple are safe and accounted for, with over 30 kilograms of gold-like items currently in the Trust's possession. The statement came amid social media speculation about missing or unaccounted donations.
Display of artefacts to media
During a press conference, the Treasurer displayed a silver 'charan paduka' and a silver 'Kakbhushundi' artefact, which some social media posts had claimed were among the missing items. He emphasised that these artefacts, along with all other donations, are securely stored and documented.
Details of donations
The Trust has received a vast array of precious items, including gold, silver, and other valuables, from devotees across the country. The Treasurer noted that the inventory process is ongoing and that all items are being catalogued to ensure transparency. He reiterated that no donation has been lost or misappropriated.
According to the Treasurer, the Trust maintains strict protocols for handling and storing donated articles. The over 30 kg of gold-like items include coins, jewellery, and decorative pieces, all of which are kept in a secure vault.
Response to social media claims
The Treasurer dismissed social media rumours as baseless and urged the public to rely on official communications from the Trust. He stressed that the Trust is committed to maintaining the highest standards of accountability and that regular audits are conducted.
“We have all records and can account for every single item donated. The claims of missing articles are completely false,” the Treasurer said, according to news agency PTI.
Ongoing inventory and transparency
The Trust plans to publish a comprehensive list of donations on its official website once the inventory is complete. This move aims to address any public concerns and ensure full transparency in the management of the temple's assets.
The Ram Temple in Ayodhya, which was inaugurated in January 2024, has received an overwhelming response from devotees, with contributions pouring in from across India and abroad.
