Punjabi singer Talwiinder Singh Sidhu, popularly known as Talwiinder, has finally broken his silence on the persistent dating rumours linking him to Bollywood actor Disha Patani. In a candid interview, the musician addressed the speculation that has been swirling since their joint appearance at Nupur Sanon's wedding festivities in Udaipur.
Addressing the Dating Speculation
During a conversation with The Hollywood Reporter India, Talwiinder revealed that he and Disha Patani had only recently become acquainted just before the wedding celebrations. The sudden media attention and public scrutiny caught both of them completely off guard, creating an unexpected pressure they hadn't anticipated.
"We just got to know each other just before the wedding, and all of this attention caught us off guard," Talwiinder confessed. "We don't want to give in to the pressure or the rumours. We are still discovering ourselves, still figuring out ourselves."
The singer maintained a diplomatic stance when pressed for further details about their relationship status. "I would just like to leave it at that because if they're going to try to spread rumours, I am going to let the rumours be rumours," he stated firmly.
When questioned about his current perspective on love and relationships, Talwiinder offered a philosophical response: "I fall in love every day, I am falling in love right now."
The Viral Unmasked Face Controversy
A Personal Betrayal and Heartbreak
In the same interview, Talwiinder opened up about the emotional impact of the viral video that revealed his face without his signature skull-face painted mask. The singer, who has carefully maintained a guarded identity throughout his career to ensure his music remains the primary focus, described feeling genuinely heartbroken when the footage spread across social media platforms.
"It was never about that 'I am never going to show my face', I am not playing hide and seek with the world," Talwiinder explained. "It was just like 'Leave me alone, just focus on what I am giving to you'. That's the public property, this is not."
He expressed frustration at the way the video circulated, with hundreds of people sending him the same clip and content creators exploiting it for views. "On top of that, you see people making content on it just to get some views. That shows their true colours as well," he remarked with disappointment.
Talwiinder questioned the motives behind leaking such personal footage: "Even for the person that gave the video to the media, for what? For Rs 5000, Rs 10000, Rs 50,000?"
Finding Silver Linings in the Aftermath
Despite his initial devastation, Talwiinder discovered an unexpected perspective the following day. After watching an AI-generated video that explained his artistic choice to conceal his face, he realized that his music was finally receiving the attention it deserved.
"And that's when it hit me, I do have people's attention on the music now. So, I don't have to be so fidgety about not showing my face," he reflected. "It clicked to me in the moment. It's not so taboo anymore. Even if they see my face, they see it, but just don't bother me. When I am not in the face paint, leave me alone."
Background of the Rumours
The dating speculation between Talwiinder and Disha Patani gained momentum following their appearance together at the wedding celebrations of Nupur Sanon and Stebin Ben in Udaipur. The rumours intensified recently when the pair was photographed walking hand-in-hand at Lollapalooza in Mumbai, shortly after Talwiinder's surprise performance with international artist Kehlani.
Several videos from Nupur Sanon's wedding circulated online, some of which inadvertently captured Talwiinder's face without his distinctive mask. The singer has maintained his masked persona since the beginning of his career as a deliberate artistic choice to ensure recognition for his musical work rather than his physical appearance.
Talwiinder has gained considerable popularity with hit songs including Kammo Ji, Dhundhala, and Funk Song. Meanwhile, Disha Patani is preparing for her upcoming special appearance in Vishal Bhardwaj's film O Romeo, which features Shahid Kapoor in the lead role.
