Tragic Highway Accident Claims Life of Tamil TV Actress's Driver
In a devastating early morning incident near Perambalur district, a driver employed by a prominent Tamil television actress lost his life after being struck by an unidentified vehicle. The actress's assistant sustained serious injuries and has been hospitalized for urgent medical treatment. Remarkably, the actress herself emerged from the harrowing ordeal completely unharmed.
Victims Identified in Fatal Collision
The deceased has been officially identified as D Muthuganesh, a 38-year-old resident of Chennai. The injured assistant is B Divakar, aged 46, hailing from Bodinayakanur in Theni district. Both individuals were accompanying the actress, A Devipriya, 47, also from Chennai, during the ill-fated journey.
Sequence of Events Leading to the Tragedy
According to detailed police reports, the group was traveling from Chennai to Theni district in the early hours of Monday. Muthuganesh was behind the wheel when their vehicle experienced a sudden tyre puncture near Irur on the bustling Chennai-Trichy national highway. While Devipriya waited safely by the roadside, Muthuganesh and Divakar began changing the tyre.
Tragedy struck when an unidentified vehicle, approaching from behind, violently rammed into their stationary car. The impact was catastrophic: Muthuganesh suffered severe, fatal injuries and died instantly at the scene. Divakar also sustained grave injuries, and the car sustained significant damage from the collision.
Emergency Response and Legal Action
Padalur police responded swiftly to the emergency, rushing to the accident site. They successfully rescued the injured Divakar and transported him to the Perambalur Government Hospital for critical medical care. The body of Muthuganesh was also conveyed to the hospital for a mandatory post-mortem examination.
In response to this tragic event, law enforcement has registered a formal case under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The charges include Section 281 for rash driving, Section 106(1) for causing death by negligence, and Section 125 for endangering human life. Authorities are actively investigating the incident to identify and apprehend the driver of the fleeing vehicle responsible for this fatal hit-and-run.
