Karthi's 'Vaa Vaathiyaar' Release Delayed: New Date Set for December 24
Vaa Vaathiyaar Release Pushed to Dec 24 After Court Stay

The much-anticipated release of actor Karthi's film 'Vaa Vaathiyaar' has been officially postponed after facing a legal hurdle just days before its scheduled premiere. The film, which was set to hit theaters on December 12, encountered an unexpected obstacle when the Madras High Court imposed an interim stay, leaving fans disappointed.

Financial Dispute Leads to Court Intervention

The primary reason behind the sudden halt is a financial dispute involving the film's producer, Gnanavelraja. Reports indicate that the producer had taken a loan of Rs 10 crores several years ago. The court was informed that the total amount, including accrued interest, has now ballooned to a significant Rs 21 crore 78 lakh 50 thousand.

On December 10, the Madras High Court issued an order prohibiting the release of 'Vaa Vaathiyaar' in theaters and on any OTT platforms until the outstanding debt is settled in full. This legal directive forced the production team to officially call off the December 12 release plan.

A New Release Date with Emotional Significance

In a swift update, the film's team is now actively working towards a new release date. According to the latest reports, there is a concerted effort to resolve the financial issues and bring the film to audiences by December 24.

This proposed date holds deep emotional and thematic significance. December 24 marks the anniversary of the revered revolutionary leader and former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, Dr. M.G. Ramachandran (MGR), who is affectionately called 'Vaathiyaar' by his legion of fans. The film's narrative, where Karthi portrays a passionate fan of MGR, aligns perfectly with this memorial day, making the potential release a fitting tribute.

Director's Comeback and Star-Studded Cast

'Vaa Vaathiyaar' marks the directorial comeback of Nalan Kumaraswamy after a gap of eight years. Kumaraswamy is known for critically acclaimed films like 'Soodhu Kavvum' and 'Kadhalum Kadanthu Pogum'. The film features a prominent cast including Krithi Shetty, Rajkiran, and Sathyaraj alongside Karthi.

With music composed by Santhosh Narayanan, the project has been in the making for over two years, generating considerable excitement among fans eager to see Karthi's portrayal of an MGR devotee.

Efforts Underway for a Swift Resolution

Sources suggest that the producer and Karthi's team are making serious efforts to clear the debt at the earliest. If these efforts are successful and the court's conditions are met, audiences can expect to see 'Vaa Vaathiyaar' grace the silver screen on the symbolic date of December 24, turning a period of disappointment into a celebratory cinematic event honoring MGR's legacy.
