Bollywood actor Vicky Kaushal is set to embark on his next ambitious project, the mythological epic 'Mahavatar', directed by Amar Kaushik. This comes after he wraps up Sanjay Leela Bhansali's 'Love & War', which also stars Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt. According to reports, Vicky will begin an intensive preparation schedule from June 2026, immediately after completing his commitments on the Bhansali directorial.
Intensive Training for 'Mahavatar'
As per Pinkvilla, Vicky has committed to a rigorous six-month training program that includes a physical transformation, bulking up, and a series of acting workshops tailored specifically for the film. Amar Kaushik has designed a very detailed prep module for Vicky. It is not just about the physicality, but also about getting into the character's psychological and emotional layers.
Year-Long Shoot Planned
'Mahavatar' is scheduled to begin filming in January 2027, with a year-long shoot planned through December 2027. Reportedly, Vicky is treating 'Mahavatar' as a once-in-a-lifetime project. He wants to be fully invested, so he has consciously decided not to take on any other assignments during the shoot.
Completion of 'Love & War'
'Love & War' is set to commence a key 50-day shooting schedule from May 2026. Bhansali plans to wrap up the film by late June, aiming for a theatrical release on January 21, 2027.
Personal Milestone: Fatherhood
Meanwhile, Vicky Kaushal's personal life has also been marked by a joyous milestone, as the actor stepped into fatherhood a few months ago. He and his wife Katrina Kaif welcomed their baby boy on November 7, 2025, and shared the news with fans through a social media post. The couple wrote, 'Our bundle of joy has arrived. With immense love and gratitude, we welcome our baby boy. 7th November, 2025. Katrina & Vicky.' Keeping the caption short and heartfelt, they added, 'Blessed. Om (sic).'
