Alpha dominated the July 4 box office, earning an estimated Rs 45 crore on its opening day, according to trade analysts. The film's strong performance overshadowed the releases of Cocktail 2 and Baby Do Die Do.
Cocktail 2 Inches Towards Rs 100 Crore
Cocktail 2, now in its third week, collected approximately Rs 8 crore on July 4, taking its total domestic box office collection to Rs 92 crore. The film is inching towards the Rs 100 crore milestone, with trade experts predicting it will cross the mark by the end of the week. "Cocktail 2 has shown remarkable legs at the box office," said film trade analyst Taran Adarsh.
Baby Do Die Do Falters on Debut
In contrast, Baby Do Die Do had a disappointing opening, earning only Rs 2.5 crore on its first day. The film, which had generated moderate pre-release buzz, failed to attract audiences, with critics citing weak storytelling as a key factor. "The film's premise didn't resonate with the audience," noted critic Anupama Chopra.
Overall Box Office Performance
The July 4 box office saw total collections of around Rs 60 crore across all films, a significant jump from the previous day's Rs 35 crore, driven by the holiday weekend. Alpha's success has been attributed to its star cast and positive word-of-mouth, while Cocktail 2 continues to benefit from its franchise appeal.
