Kangana Ranaut's 'Bharat Bhhagya Viddhaata' experienced a significant decline in earnings on its first Monday at the Indian box office. The film, which hit theaters on Friday, struggled to maintain collections above the Rs 1 crore mark over its debut weekend.
'Bharat Bhhagya Viddhaata' Day 4 Collections
On Monday, the film's collections dropped below the Rs 1 crore threshold. According to early estimates on Sacnilk, the film earned a net Rs 65 lakh on Day 4 across 1,866 shows. This marks a steep 63.9% decline from Sunday's earnings of Rs 1.80 crore.
While most films see a dip on their first Monday, the sharp drop below Rs 1 crore makes it challenging for 'Bharat Bhhagya Viddhaata' to regain momentum. With these latest figures, the film has accumulated an estimated India gross collection of Rs 5.86 crore and an India net collection of Rs 4.90 crore after four days in theaters.
'Bharat Bhhagya Viddhaata' vs 'Main Vaapas Aaunga'
The film's struggles are more evident when compared to its competitor, Imtiaz Ali's 'Main Vaapas Aaunga', which collected a net Rs 1.25 crore on Day 4 from 2,139 shows. Although it also experienced a weekday decline, the drop was comparatively lower at 50% from Sunday's Rs 2.50 crore. 'Main Vaapas Aaunga' total collections now stand at Rs 8.10 crore gross and Rs 6.75 crore net, comfortably ahead of 'Bharat Bhhagya Viddhaata'.
'Bharat Bhhagya Viddhaata' vs 'Haunted 3D'
However, the clear winner of the weekend remains 'Haunted 3D: Echoes of the Past'. The horror thriller earned Rs 2.20 crore net on Monday, registering a 38.9% decline from its Sunday collection of Rs 3.60 crore. Despite the drop, its hold on Monday was significantly stronger than both competing releases.
Road Ahead
The coming weekdays will be crucial for 'Bharat Bhhagya Viddhaata'. If collections continue to stay below the Rs 1 crore mark, the film may struggle to improve its overall box-office performance significantly. Set against the backdrop of the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks, the film generated attention before release and received support from political leaders, with some states granting tax exemptions. However, that support has not yet translated into strong box office returns.
