Chand Mera Dil Gets Extended Runtime, New Scenes Before Release

The romantic drama 'Chand Mera Dil', starring Lakshya and Ananya Panday, is all set for its theatrical release today, May 22. The film, which has been in the news due to its censorship battle with the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), received a last-minute runtime update ahead of its release.

Box Office Updates and Advance Bookings

According to early box office reports on sacnilk, the film is currently running across 402 shows and has collected approximately Rs 2 lakh net in Day 1 advance bookings. The film has also reportedly sold over 32,000 tickets across major national cinema chains, indicating a slow but steady growing momentum.

Runtime Extended with New Scenes

As per the report, the film's runtime has been extended before its release. Reports suggest the CBFC had initially certified the movie with a runtime of 135.36 minutes on May 8. However, after the CBFC censored portions of the film, the makers allegedly returned to the board and added additional footage to the final cut. The revised version, as per sacnilk, now includes eight new scenes, including an extended sequence in the first half, lasting nearly four minutes. The final runtime of the film currently stands at 145.53 minutes (2 hours and 25 minutes).

Pricing Strategy and Theatrical Delays

Directed by Vivek Soni, the romantic drama, which is said to have a dark twist, has also opted for a new pricing strategy to boost opening-day footfalls. Reports indicate that tickets for all shows before 5 pm on May 22 have been priced at Rs 149. Despite the film nearing release, some theatres in Mumbai and other regions reportedly experienced minor delays in opening advance bookings.

Cast and Upcoming Projects

The film marks the first collaboration for Panday and Lakshya. The actress was last seen in 'Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri', which was released in 2025 and also starred Kartik Aaryan. She will next feature in the second season of 'Call Me Bae'. Lakshya, on the other hand, was last seen in Aryan Khan's directorial debut series 'The Ba***ds of Bollywood'.
