Chatha Pacha Box Office Performance Shows Sharp Decline on Day 12

The Malayalam action-comedy film Chatha Pacha: The Ring of Rowdies has entered its twelfth day of theatrical run, revealing a substantial downturn in box office collections. According to industry tracking sources, the film managed to collect approximately Rs 11 lakhs India net on its twelfth day, marking a dramatic decrease compared to its earlier performance.

Significant Drop in Daily Collections

This day 12 figure represents a staggering 81% decline from the film's previous daily earnings, as reported by the Sacnilk website. The movie had demonstrated strong performance during its initial 11 days, accumulating around Rs 15.33 crore India net during that period. However, the twelfth day witnessed this sharp fall, highlighting the challenges films often face in sustaining momentum beyond the opening weeks.

Looking at the recent daily trends, day 10 had earned Rs 45 lakhs, followed by day 11 with Rs 55 lakhs, before the precipitous drop to just Rs 1 lakh on day 12. While the second weekend provided some support to the film's collections, the subsequent Monday experienced this substantial decline.

Overall Box Office Totals Remain Respectable

Despite the recent drop, Chatha Pacha has achieved commendable overall numbers. The 12-day India net collection now stands at Rs 15.4 crore, while the worldwide collection has reached Rs 32.8 crore. Breaking this down further, the overseas collection amounts to Rs 14.6 crore, and the India gross collection is Rs 18.2 crore.

Occupancy Rates Reflect Monday Slump

The film's occupancy numbers on Monday remained notably low, with an overall Malayalam occupancy rate of just 6.69%. This represents a significant decrease from the film's earlier occupancy levels. The breakdown by show timings reveals:

  • Morning shows: 3.97% occupancy
  • Afternoon shows: 6.30% occupancy
  • Evening shows: 6.53% occupancy
  • Night shows: 9.94% occupancy

While night shows recorded the highest occupancy among all time slots, even these numbers were not particularly strong compared to the film's earlier performance.

Star Cast and Mammootty Cameo Generate Interest

The film features an ensemble cast including Arjun Ashokan, Roshan Mathew, Vishak Nair, Ishan Shoukath, Lakshmi Menon, and Siddique in pivotal roles. Directed by Adwaith Nayar, the movie has been appreciated by many viewers for its energetic atmosphere and rowdy-style action sequences. A special highlight of the film has been the cameo appearance by Malayalam superstar Mammootty.

Mammootty Explains His Character and Cameo Role

During a success celebration event held in Kochi, Mammootty shared insights about his character in the film. He elaborated, "In the film, the way I understood the character Walter is that he is the childhood hero of these boys. At some point, he had left the town. All of them are from Kochi. After a long time, when he returns, it is mainly to surprise these boys."

The veteran actor also discussed the specific linguistic approach he adopted for the role. Mammootty explained, "He speaks the Kochi slang from the time when he left the place. I tried to speak that language and shape the look in a way that the identity of the character does not get lost. He is not speaking the Kochi language that is spoken now. He is speaking the older Kochi slang. Because of that, the present-day kids might feel a slight disconnect. But if you look at it that way, it will connect."

The film continues to draw attention for its unique blend of youthful energy, action sequences, and the special appearance by one of Malayalam cinema's most celebrated actors, even as it navigates the typical box office challenges that films encounter in their second week of release.
