De De Pyaar De 2 Makes a Modest Box Office Entry
The much-anticipated Bollywood sequel, De De Pyaar De 2, featuring Ajay Devgn, has opened to a lukewarm response at the domestic box office. The film, which released in theatres on November 15, 2025, managed to collect an estimated Rs 8.5 crore on its first day, as per data from industry tracker Sacnilk.
How Does It Compare to Other Ajay Devgn Sequels?
This opening day figure places the romantic comedy in a curious position when compared to the actor's other recent sequels. While it performed slightly better than Son of Sardaar 2, which earned Rs 7.5 crore on its day one, it fell significantly short of the blockbuster opening of Raid 2. The action-thriller, also starring Devgn, had a massive opening day collection of Rs 19.25 crore, more than double the earnings of De De Pyaar De 2.
Even when compared to its own predecessor, the 2019 original De De Pyaar De, the new film has seen a slight dip. The first film in the franchise had collected Rs 9.11 crore on its opening day.
Occupancy Rates and Comparison with Shaitaan
The film's occupancy rates tell a similar story of a moderate start. With a little over 5,100 shows across the country, the overall occupancy averaged at 14.05 percent. The day began on a slower note with morning shows recording only 7.46 percent occupancy, which improved to 10.66 percent in the afternoon. The evening and night shows saw better traction with 12.80 percent and 25.26 percent occupancy, respectively.
This opening is also lower than the surprise hit of 2024, Shaitaan, which also starred Ajay Devgn and R Madhavan. That film had minted Rs 14.75 crore on its first day and went on to become a major success, eventually earning Rs 147 crore domestically.
What's Next for the Film?
Directed by Anshul Sharma and written by Luv Ranjan and Tarun Jain, De De Pyaar De 2 brings together an ensemble cast including Rakul Preet Singh, R Madhavan, Javed Jaafery, Meezaan Jafri, Ishita Dutta, and Gautami Kapoor.
The film's performance on its opening weekend will be crucial. The makers will be hoping for a significant jump in collections on Saturday and Sunday, as positive word-of-mouth could help the film gain the necessary momentum for a successful theatrical run. The fate of this Ajay Devgn-starrer now hinges on how the audience responds over the next two days.
