Ajay Devgn's latest romantic comedy, De De Pyaar De 2, has made a surprisingly strong debut at the domestic box office, setting the stage for what could be a successful theatrical run. The film, which hit theaters on Friday, November 14, 2025, managed to pull in audiences despite opening slightly lower than its prequel.
Opening Day Box Office Performance
According to data from the film industry tracker Sacnilk, De De Pyaar De 2 collected ₹8.75 crore net on its first day in India. This figure represents a better-than-expected opening for the sequel, which had been the subject of much anticipation. For comparison, the first installment, De De Pyaar De, which was released on November 14, 2019, had opened to ₹9.11 crore.
The film's overall Hindi occupancy on its debut day was registered at 14.05%. On the global stage, the movie's performance was even more impressive, raking in a total of ₹14.50 crore gross worldwide. This includes ₹10.50 crore gross from India and ₹4 crore gross from the overseas market.
Analysts Weigh In on Weekend Potential
Renowned film business analyst Taran Adarsh shared his insights on the platform X, noting the film's positive trajectory. "After a low start in the morning and noon shows, #DeDePyaarDe2 picked up significantly from the evening shows onward," he stated. He emphasized that "Multiplexes have responded favourably, setting the stage for crucial growth on Saturday and Sunday."
Adarsh also pointed out that the sequel opened lower than the first film, which had collected ₹10.41 crore, including previews. He attributed this partly to the promotional campaign, suggesting that while the trailer was well-received, the subsequent marketing assets did not generate a high level of curiosity among potential viewers. He concluded that all eyes are now on the film's performance over the weekend, which will be critical for its long-term success.
Echoing this sentiment, trade analyst Sumit Kadel gave the film a 3.5-star rating and posted on X that the movie had taken a "better-than-expected opening." His early estimates placed the Day 1 business in the range of ₹8.50–9.50 crore nett. Kadel highlighted that strong word of mouth led to a sharp increase in audience turnout from the evening shows. He confidently predicted that Saturday and Sunday are will hit double digits, indicating a positive outlook for the film's box office earnings.
