Dhurandhar Holds Strong Against New Release on Day 39
The Bollywood blockbuster Dhurandhar is showing remarkable staying power in cinemas. Even after thirty-nine days, the film is performing better than some new releases. It is currently engaged in a major box office clash with the pan-India star Prabhas' latest film, The Raja Saab. Directed by Aditya Dhar and starring Ranveer Singh, Dhurandhar has been entertaining audiences for over a month since its theatrical debut.
Day 39 Collection Details
According to the latest data from industry tracker Sacnilk, Dhurandhar minted ₹2.25 crore net on Monday, which was its thirty-ninth day in theatres. This figure represents a dip from the previous day. The film's collection decreased by ₹3.90 crore, marking a significant drop of 63.41% from day 38 to day 39.
Direct Comparison with The Raja Saab
Despite the dip, Dhurandhar's performance remains impressive when compared directly to its competitor. The Raja Saab, which was in its fourth day, managed to rake in ₹5.4 crore net. However, a large portion of this collection came from the Telugu market. In the crucial Hindi-speaking regions, Dhurandhar is clearly ahead.
The evidence for this lead is clear when we look at the occupancy rates. On January 12, which was day 39 for Dhurandhar and day 4 for The Raja Saab, Dhurandhar recorded an overall occupancy of 11.84%. This was notably higher than The Raja Saab's occupancy of 8.12% on the same day.
Occupancy Trends Throughout the Day
Dhurandhar maintained stronger audience traction during key time slots. Its afternoon shows saw an occupancy of 13.95%, while evening shows reached 14.53%. In contrast, The Raja Saab struggled to cross double-digit occupancy for most of the day. It only managed a marginally better occupancy of 10.42% during its night shows.
Show Counts and Regional Performance
The gap between the two films becomes even more evident when we examine the show counts, focusing only on their Hindi versions. Dhurandhar enjoyed significantly higher occupancies in several South Indian markets. This was partly due to a lower number of shows, which concentrated audience interest.
- In Chennai, Dhurandhar's occupancy was a strong 46.75%.
- Bengaluru and Hyderabad both reported occupancies of 28.50%.
In terms of sheer screen presence, Dhurandhar had its highest number of screenings in the Delhi NCR region with 741 shows. It was followed by Mumbai with 371 shows and Pune with 197 shows.
On the other hand, The Raja Saab had fewer screens dedicated to its Hindi version. It recorded 618 shows in the Delhi NCR region, 321 in Mumbai, and just 40 in Bengaluru. This distribution further highlights Dhurandhar's dominant position in the Hindi film market, even as it continues its extended theatrical run.
