The Indian box office has witnessed a historic milestone as the spy thriller Dhurandhar, starring Ranveer Singh, has shattered a significant record previously held by the blockbuster Pushpa 2: The Rule (Hindi version). In a stunning display of sustained popularity, Dhurandhar has become the fastest Hindi film to cross the coveted ₹100 crore mark within its third week of release, achieving this feat in a mere four days.
A Record-Shattering Third Week Run
Dhurandhar's third-week performance has been nothing short of extraordinary. The film, directed by Aditya Dhar, maintained strong momentum entering its third weekend. On its 15th day (third Friday), it collected a solid ₹22.5 crore. The real fireworks began on Day 16 (Saturday), when the box office figures witnessed a massive surge of over 52%, rocketing to ₹34.25 crore.
The upward trend continued on Day 17 (Sunday) with a further 12.41% jump, taking the single-day earnings to an impressive ₹38.5 crore. Although Monday (Day 18) saw the expected weekday drop of 57.14%, bringing in ₹16.5 crore, the damage had already been done to the record books. The cumulative total for the first four days of Week 3 stood at a monumental ₹111.75 crore, officially breaching the ₹100 crore club for that week.
How Pushpa 2's Third Week Compared
The previous record was held by Allu Arjun's Pushpa 2: The Rule in its Hindi dubbed version. Its third-week journey was more gradual. It started with ₹11.3 crore on the third Friday, saw a healthy jump to ₹20 crore on Saturday, and peaked at ₹26.75 crore on Sunday. After a Monday drop to ₹10.5 crore, it stabilized over the next few days. Crucially, it took Pushpa 2 a full seven days of its third week to cross the ₹100 crore threshold, a benchmark Dhurandhar has now demolished in half the time.
Top Performers and a Temporary Setback
The race for the biggest third-week earners in Hindi cinema now sees Dhurandhar at the pinnacle. With ₹119.40 crore in just four days (as per industry tracker Sacnilk), it leads the chart. Pushpa 2 (Hindi) follows with ₹119 crore for its entire seven-day third week. They are followed by Chhaava (₹84.05 crore), Stree 2 (₹70.20 crore), and the legendary Baahubali 2: The Conclusion (Hindi) at ₹69.75 crore.
Despite its overall record-breaking pace, Dhurandhar experienced its first stumble from the top spot on Day 18. After leading the charts from Day 12 to Day 17, it slipped to third position for that single day. Pushpa 2 led Day 18 with ₹26.75 crore, followed by Stree 2 with ₹22 crore. Dhurandhar's India net total, however, reached a colossal ₹572.25 crore, underscoring its phenomenal overall success.
This head-to-head competition highlights the exceptional holding power of Dhurandhar, which is now poised to out-earn Pushpa 2's total third-week collection. The film's performance redefines benchmarks for longevity and audience engagement in the modern Hindi film industry, proving that a well-received movie can defy traditional box office decay curves and create new records.
