The fatal incident occurred on the busy highway connecting Lagos and Ibadan in southwest Nigeria. The Lexus SUV carrying Joshua, his personal trainer Latif Ayodele, and his long-time strength and conditioning coach Sina Ghami collided with a stationary truck. Ayodele and Ghami both died instantly at the scene.
Joshua, who is 36 years old and has family roots in Nigeria, was in the country on holiday following his decisive victory over YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul in Miami on December 19. Following the crash, he received treatment for minor injuries and was discharged from a local hospital before returning to England.
