October 2025 Box Office Hits ₹1,680 Cr, Led by Kantara Chapter 1
October 2025 Box Office Soars with ₹1,680 Cr Revenue

The Indian film industry witnessed an unprecedented boom in October 2025, recording its most powerful theatrical performance of the year. According to a report from Ormax Media, the month registered an estimated ₹1,680 crore in overall collections, setting a new benchmark for post-pandemic cinema.

Kantara Chapter 1 Drives Historic Revenue

The massive surge was single-handedly propelled by the blockbuster success of Kantara: A Legend Chapter 1. The film contributed a staggering 44% of the month’s total revenue, pulling in approximately ₹735 crore. This phenomenal performance has now cemented Kantara: A Legend Chapter 1 as the highest-grossing film of 2025 so far, dominating the box office landscape.

Industry-Wide Momentum and Regional Triumph

The record-breaking month is part of a larger positive trend for the Indian box office. The industry's cumulative earnings for 2025 have reached around ₹8,900 crore, marking a significant 24% jump compared to the same period in 2024. This robust growth has already positioned 2025 ahead of the full-year record of ₹12,226 crore set in 2023, indicating a full recovery and beyond for theatrical business.

Furthermore, the report highlights a landmark achievement in regional cinema. The Gujarati film Laalo: Krishna Sada Sahaayate has created history by becoming the highest-grossing Gujarati film ever, showcasing the growing power and reach of content beyond the traditional Hindi film market.

A Landmark Month for Post-Pandemic Cinema

Ormax Media's report underscored the rarity of such a high-grossing month. It noted that October 2025 is only the fifth month since the pandemic where the overall box office collections have successfully crossed the ₹1,500-crore mark. This achievement signals a strong and sustained return of audiences to movie theaters, fueled by high-quality, compelling content across languages and genres.
