Prabhas' Sankranti Release Faces Box Office Headwinds
Prabhas' latest film 'The Raja Saab' hit theaters on January 9. The movie arrived with high expectations as one of the major Sankranti releases this year. However, audience reception proved mixed to negative after the initial run. This reaction directly impacted the film's box office performance.
Box Office Collections Show Steep Decline
Trade analyst Sacnilk provided early estimates for the film's earnings. On its tenth day, 'The Raja Saab' collected over Rs 2.50 crore. The film started strong with first-day and premiere shows totaling Rs 62.9 crore. It maintained good collections throughout the opening weekend.
The movie completed its first week with an estimated total of Rs 130.25 crore. However, the second weekend witnessed a significant drop. On Day 8, which was a Friday, the film added only Rs 3.5 crore. Saturday saw further decline with earnings of Rs 3 crore. The current domestic total now stands at approximately Rs 139.25 crore.
'The Raja Saab' has not yet crossed the Rs 200 crore mark globally. The worldwide collection currently sits at an estimated Rs 196.65 crore.
Theatrical Occupancy Reflects Waning Interest
Sunday occupancy numbers reveal the film's struggle to attract audiences. In Telugu, the overall occupancy reached 28.37%. Morning shows recorded 20.03% attendance. This figure increased to 34.72% for afternoon shows. Evening shows maintained similar momentum with 35.33% occupancy. Night shows experienced a dip, recording just 23.41% footfalls.
The Hindi version fared worse with an overall 11.29% occupancy on Sunday. Morning shows saw only 5.53% attendance. Afternoon and evening shows recorded 13.95% and 13.99% respectively. Night shows attracted 11.67% of the audience.
