A 19-year-old woman was allegedly hacked to death by her father in a gruesome attack in Uttar Pradesh's Firozabad district, while her mother sustained critical injuries attempting to intervene. The incident occurred on Sunday night at Neelkanth colony in Basai Mohammadpur area.
Details of the Incident
According to police, Rakesh Rathore, 50, a bangle maker, used a sickle to attack his daughter Muskan during a heated argument. Muskan died on the spot. When her mother Pushpa Devi, 48, rushed to save her, she was also attacked and collapsed. She was initially taken to a trauma centre and later shifted to a medical facility in Agra, where she is battling for her life.
Motive Behind the Attack
Police investigations revealed that Muskan, a college student, had left home with a young man a few days ago against her father's wishes. Rathore claimed that his daughter had tarnished the family's reputation in society. SHO Krishna Swaroop Pal of Basai Mohammadpur stated that Rathore had been upset with Muskan for the past few days.
Legal Action
The victim's brother, Ajay Rathore, filed a complaint against their father, leading to his arrest. An FIR has been registered under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita sections 103(1) (murder) and 109(1) (attempt to murder). The sickle used in the crime has been recovered. SP (Firozabad rural) Anuj Chaudhary confirmed the arrest and the filing of charges.
