Suniel Narang Resigns as TFCC President

Suniel Narang, a prominent producer and distributor, resigned as president of the Telangana Film Chamber of Commerce (TFCC) on Tuesday, citing growing pressure and dissatisfaction with the body's functioning. His decision comes in the wake of intense discussions and internal disagreements within the Telugu film industry over a proposed percentage-based revenue-sharing model. Although producers, exhibitors, and distributors eventually reached a consensus and formed a committee to address implementation concerns, the turmoil prompted Narang's departure.

Second Resignation in Recent Years

This marks the second time Narang has stepped down from the post. He had previously resigned in June 2025, just one day after being re-elected for a third consecutive term as president. Explaining his latest decision, Narang stated that the Chamber was no longer functioning through collective and impartial decision-making, making it difficult for him to continue in the role.

Personal Toll

Speaking to Hyderabad Times, Narang admitted that the situation had begun to affect him personally. "I am very confused about continuing there. Even people around us speak differently at different times, including those we considered close to us. It is affecting both my mental and physical health. It is really not worth staying there anymore," he said.

The resignation highlights ongoing challenges within the Telugu film industry as it navigates revenue-sharing disputes and seeks to improve governance in trade bodies. Narang's departure is expected to prompt discussions about the future leadership of TFCC and the need for reforms to restore confidence among stakeholders.
