Tu Meri Main Tera Box Office Day 2: Kartik-Ananya Film Nosedives To Rs 5 Cr
Tu Meri Main Tera Box Office Day 2: Film Earns Rs 5 Cr

The much-hyped romantic comedy Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri, starring Kartik Aaryan and Ananya Panday, is facing a severe setback at the box office. The film, which released on Christmas Day, has failed to attract audiences, leading to a worrying decline in its collections by the second day.

Sharp Decline on Day 2

After a lackluster opening day collection of Rs 7.75 crore, the film's fortunes took a further hit on its second day, which fell on a working Thursday. Early estimates from industry tracker Sacnilk indicate that Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri earned only Rs 5 crore on Day 2. This represents a significant drop of approximately 35.5% from its opening day.

The total domestic net collection for the first two days now stands at a disappointing Rs 12.75 crore. The occupancy figures for the second day tell a similar story of poor audience turnout, with an overall occupancy of just 19.92% nationwide.

Regional Performance and Occupancy Details

A city-wise breakdown reveals a bleak picture. Morning shows across India opened at an alarmingly low 7.28% occupancy. While there was some improvement in the afternoon (18.49%) and evening (23.15%), the night shows could only manage 30.76%.

In key markets, Delhi-NCR, which had the highest number of shows at 564, recorded a low occupancy of 21.75%. Mumbai, with 428 shows, performed marginally better at 25.25% occupancy. These numbers are far below expectations for a major festive release backed by a prominent producer like Karan Johar.

Disappointing Comparisons with Past Films

The film's performance looks even more underwhelming when compared to Kartik Aaryan's previous releases. His last romantic drama, Satyaprem Ki Katha, had collected Rs 14.35 crore in its first two days, which is higher than TMMTMTTM's total.

More damningly, the actor's earlier collaboration with Ananya Panday, Pati Patni Aur Woh (2019), had earned Rs 21.43 crore in a comparable period. Even the pre-pandemic release Love Aaj Kal (2020), considered a commercial failure, managed Rs 20.41 crore. Kartik's successful romantic comedy Luka Chuppi had opened with Rs 18.8 crore.

The film is also trailing behind other romantic comedies released earlier in 2025, such as Bhool Chuk Maaf (Rs 16.5 crore), Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat (Rs 16.75 crore), Param Sundari (Rs 16.75 crore), and Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari (Rs 14.75 crore).

Stiff Competition and Future Prospects

Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri is battling intense competition at the ticket windows. Ranveer Singh's blockbuster Dhurandhar, the highest-grossing Hindi film of 2025, continues its dominant run in its fourth week, earning around Rs 15 crore on its fourth Friday alone. Its total domestic collection has soared past Rs 648.5 crore.

Furthermore, James Cameron's Avatar: Fire and Ash is drawing crowds in its second week, having already amassed Rs 117 crore in India. It earned Rs 7.5 crore on its second Friday, nearly matching the opening-day figure of Kartik and Ananya's film.

With mixed word-of-mouth and another major release, Sriram Raghavan's Ikkis, arriving soon, the path ahead for Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri appears challenging. The film will need a miraculous turnaround over the weekend to avoid being labeled a major box office disappointment for its lead stars and the production house.
