In a shocking incident, a 12-year-old girl was allegedly raped by the son of a maulvi at a madrasa in Gwalda village under the Chaupanki police station area of Bhiwadi in Alwar district, Rajasthan. The police registered a First Information Report (FIR) on Tuesday under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) related to rape and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. An investigation has been initiated into the matter.
Details of the Incident
According to the victim's father, the girl was admitted to the madrasa for studies on May 2. He alleged that the maulvi's son administered intoxicating substances to the child and raped her. The family further claimed that the accused raped her again on May 7. After the minor girl informed her family about the ordeal, the father approached the police and lodged a formal complaint.
Threats and Intimidation
The family has also alleged that since the complaint was filed, the maulvi and his associates have been threatening the minor girl. The police have taken note of these allegations and are investigating the matter accordingly.
Police Response and Investigation
Police officials confirmed that the survivor, a resident of Uttar Pradesh who was staying and studying at the madrasa, underwent a medical examination on Tuesday. Around 50 girls are reportedly residing and studying at the same madrasa. Trainee RPS and Chaupanki Station House Officer Kapil Gupta stated that the accused allegedly raped the girl on May 2 and May 7 and threatened her when she objected. He added that the police are making efforts to trace the absconding accused.
Legal Action
The FIR has been registered under sections of the BNS and the POCSO Act, which provide for strict punishment for sexual offenses against minors. The investigation is ongoing, and the police are expected to take further action based on the evidence collected.
This incident has raised concerns about the safety of children in educational institutions, particularly madrasas, and has prompted calls for stricter oversight and security measures.
