Kochi: The Association of Malayalam Movie Artistes (AMMA) has issued a show cause notice to actor and former executive member Ansiba Hassan for making statements against the film body to the media and on social media platforms.
Allegations of Tarnishing Reputation
In a strongly worded notice, AMMA leadership accused Hassan of attempting to ‘tarnish’ the reputation of the film body. The association slammed her actions as a gross violation of its code of conduct, asserting that internal disputes should be resolved through internal discussions.
Ultimatum and Consequences
Hassan has been given an ultimatum to submit a formal explanation by June 17. The leadership warned of severe disciplinary consequences, including outright expulsion from primary membership, if the reply is unsatisfactory.
“The notice has been sent as per a decision made in the last executive meeting. As per the organisational bylaw, no members should air differences of opinion in the public domain,” said a member.
Background of the Dispute
The move follows Hassan’s resignation, after which she publicly blamed fellow executive committee member and actor Tini Tom for creating a toxic environment that forced her exit. Hassan accused Tom of character assassination, targeted personal attacks, and derogatory ‘communal’ remarks after an internal disagreement over a religious institution sponsoring an AMMA event.
