Amy Lee, best known as the lead vocalist of the rock band Evanescence, recently opened up about motherhood and her son's growing love for metal music. In an interview with Loudwire, the singer expressed joy in watching her 11-year-old son, Jack, develop a passion for the genre.
Amy Lee on Her Son's Love for Metal
Currently on tour with Metallica for their 'M72 Tour', Lee brought Jack along to experience the world of live concerts. She described the moment during a performance of 'Nothing Else Matters' when rain began to fall, and she saw her son become captivated. "Him getting to experience that in the stadium, rain gently starts falling during 'Nothing Else Matters,' I'm just watching his mind go like, 'I'm in,'" she said. The experience brought back nostalgic memories of her own youth, as she added, "It was such a good thing for my heart and took me back to being that age and falling in love with music."
Welcoming Atmosphere from Metallica
Lee also praised the members of Metallica for their graciousness during the tour. "They were so great, they were so gracious. You never know how it's going to be coming into somebody else's world," she noted. The tour has allowed her to share her passion with her son while performing alongside one of metal's most iconic bands.
Evanescence was formed in Little Rock, Arkansas, in 1994 by Amy Lee and guitarist Ben Moody, who met at a youth camp. They began writing songs together and releasing EPs before signing with a record label. Today, Lee continues to inspire a new generation of metal fans, including her own son.
