Bengaluru Delivery Agent Attacked, Robbed at Home

Bengaluru: A food delivery agent was allegedly assaulted while trying to stop an intruder who entered his rented house and fled with cash and a mobile phone in the early hours of Sunday.

Incident Details

Shyamal, a resident of 5th Cross, Anepalya, and a native of West Bengal, reported that he and his roommate Nitai Das returned home late after work. Around 1:35 am, a miscreant sneaked into their second-floor residence and latched the bathroom door from outside after realizing someone was inside.

The intruder then entered the kitchen and attacked Shyamal, who was cooking, from behind. Shyamal told TOI, “I didn’t notice what the weapon was, but he slashed me multiple times in my back. When I turned around, he warned me not to resist. I tried to raise the alarm, but he assaulted me again. I had to remain silent.”

Theft and Confrontation

The miscreant then entered the bedroom and allegedly stole a mobile phone belonging to Das, Rs 2,750 in cash from Shyamal’s trouser pocket, and his bike key. Realizing the intruder was attempting to flee, Shyamal confronted him and grabbed his legs. However, the miscreant struck him on the head with an object and fled with the valuables.

According to Shyamal, the suspect is around 25 years old and may have been involved in a similar theft at the same building a few months ago, when a mobile phone was stolen from his house and another theft occurred in an adjacent residence.

Police Investigation

A senior police officer said, “The CCTV camera installed in the building captured visuals of the miscreant, but the images seem to be unclear. We are verifying footage from adjacent buildings.” A case has been registered at the Ashok Nagar police station.
