Scheme Background and Coverage
The Mukhyamantri Kalakar Pension Yojana was cleared by the state cabinet in July of the previous year. The primary objective of this scheme is to extend financial assistance to artists who have made significant contributions in the domains of art and culture. It encompasses a diverse array of practitioners, including folk artists, theatre performers, singers, instrumentalists, and those involved in traditional art forms.
Government's Commitment to Artists
Department minister Pramod Kumar emphasized that the government is dedicated to ensuring financial security and dignity for all artists. He stated, “Efforts are being made to ensure timely disbursal of benefits and to enhance transparency in the implementation of the scheme. The department is working to make the scheme more accessible so that artists from remote areas can also avail of its benefits.”
Kumar further highlighted that artists have played a vital role in preserving Bihar’s rich cultural and folk traditions. He reiterated the government’s unwavering commitment to recognizing and supporting their invaluable contributions to the state's heritage.
