Christen Goff, the wife of Detroit Lions quarterback Jared Goff, is embracing motherhood with the same deliberate and heartfelt approach she applies to all aspects of her life. Since the arrival of their daughter, Romy, her world has transformed, revolving around a unique rhythm that moves between two cities, two distinct homes, and one beautiful new priority.
Navigating Life Between Two Worlds
While her husband commands the gridiron for the Detroit Lions, Christen has been redefining the very essence of 'home' during this monumental life transition. Her days are now split between Los Angeles and Michigan, two places deeply woven into the fabric of the couple's shared story. One offers the serene rhythm of the Pacific Ocean, while the other provides the cozy warmth characteristic of Midwest winters. With a newborn in her arms, Christen's mission was to ensure both spaces felt safe, calm, and authentically personal. She tackled this not as a mere decorating task, but as an emotional reset, crafting environments that reflect the family they are becoming.
A Tale of Two Homes: Coastal Calm and Country Cozy
For Christen, adapting both houses meant honouring their individual personalities while seamlessly making room for baby Romy. She openly admits to learning on the go, expressing gratitude for their unique situation. "We're so lucky to be able to live in two different places," she shares. Her childhood home state of California influences their LA abode. "I grew up in California, and there, we live by the beach, so our house kind of reflects that," Christen explains. "We live steps away from the ocean so our house definitely has more of a coastal feel, very indoor-outdoor, which we love."
Michigan, however, presents a completely different aesthetic and atmosphere. "And then here in Michigan, our house is a little bit more cozy, kind of farmhouse country," she describes. "We always have the fireplace going, even in the summer, which is kind of insane, but I would say that this house is so cozy and it just makes me want to cuddle up on the couch and watch a movie." This thoughtful differentiation extends to the nurseries in each home. The LA nursery embraces a "boho, Bohemian" vibe with fun antiques, while Michigan's nursery leans into softer, more classic tones. "Her nursery is so sweet here. It's very, like, muted pink tones. I went full into the girly pink," Christen says with joy.
First Christmas and the Realities of New Motherhood
As the festive season approaches, the Goff family will celebrate Romy's first Christmas in their Michigan home. "We are here in Michigan through this season, so we're here, we'll be celebrating here, which is great," Christen states. While she cherishes the idea of a California Christmas by the beach, she concedes, "nothing beats a fireplace rolling with snow outside and your Christmas tree lit."
Behind the idyllic scenes, Christen is candid about the rollercoaster ride of new motherhood, where exhaustion and profound joy exist in equal measure. Laundry piles up, routines are constantly shifting, and patience is tested. Her strategy for navigating this chaotic yet beautiful phase is grounded in perspective. "My key is chipping away day by day at everything," she reveals. "Just doing what you can and giving yourself grace." This journey has also connected her to a new community. "I feel like I'm part of this new club of women and we all have something in common," she says, adding with admiration, "Moms are superheroes."
