The Tamil Nadu Cyber Crime Wing has apprehended the alleged perpetrator responsible for the online leak of footage from Vijay's yet-to-be-released film 'Jana Nayagan', directed by H Vinoth. This arrest occurs several months after clips from the unreleased movie surfaced on social media platforms.
According to reports from India Today and the Cyber Crime Wing, the accused had been evading authorities for some time before officials tracked him down and took him into custody on June 10. Additionally, another individual linked to the piracy network was also detained.
With these latest arrests, the total number of individuals held in connection with this case has now reached 19.
Investigation initiated after footage leaked online
The case began in April when the makers of 'Jana Nayagan' filed a complaint alleging that footage from the film had been accessed and shared online without authorization. The leaked clips quickly proliferated across social media and other websites.
The production team expressed concern over the breach, as the movie was still awaiting its official release. Officials stated that the latest arrests were the result of detailed digital tracking and investigation. The newly arrested individual is believed to have played a pivotal role in disseminating the leaked footage online.
'Jana Nayagan' release delayed
For context, earlier in the investigation, several people were arrested, including a freelance editor accused of accessing and sharing the footage. The incident also impacted the editing department. Editor Pradeep E Ragav was suspended by the editors' association for collaborating with a freelance editor who was not registered with the organization. However, the association clarified that Ragav was not directly involved in the leak.
Meanwhile, 'Jana Nayagan' is still awaiting clearance from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). The filmmakers have yet to announce a new release date for the film.

Regarding the film, it features Vijay in the lead role, alongside Mamitha Baiju, Pooja Hegde, Prakash Raj, Bobby Deol, and Gautham Vasudev Menon.
