A 24-year-old bike-borne delivery boy succumbed to injuries 11 days after being involved in a hit-and-run accident in Goregaon, Mumbai. The incident occurred on May 20, and the victim, Mohammad Zain Sumra, passed away on May 31 while undergoing treatment at Holy Spirit Hospital.

Incident Details

According to the Goregaon Police, an FIR was registered on June 3 for rash driving and negligence against an unknown person. The accident took place on the MTNL bridge on the Goregaon-Mulund Link Road. Sumra was hit by an unknown motorist and was found unconscious at the scene.

Victim's Background

Mohammad Zain Sumra, a resident of Mira Road, had previously worked at a call centre. About a month before the accident, he left his job and started working as a delivery boy for a food delivery platform.

On May 20, Sumra's mother received a phone call from an unknown person informing her that her son had been admitted to Trauma Care Hospital in Jogeshwari. His parents rushed to the hospital, where they learned he had been injured in a road crash. He was unconscious throughout the treatment.

Medical Treatment and Demise

Sumra's family later moved him to Holy Spirit Hospital, where he was admitted to the Intensive Cardiac Care Unit (ICCU). Despite medical efforts, he succumbed to his injuries on May 31. The police later informed the family that he was hit by an unknown motorist on the MTNL bridge.

The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are searching for the unidentified driver involved in the hit-and-run.
