Actress Delnaaz Irani, who has made a cameo appearance in the show Hui Gumm Yaadein, recently opened up about reuniting with her former Karam Apna Apna co-actor Iqbal Khan. She described him as a happy, calm, and lovable person.
Reunion with Iqbal Khan
Talking about working with Iqbal again, Delnaaz said, "We shared some great memories from that show, and now collaborating with him on this set has been amazing. He is such a happy, calm, and lovable person. I truly loved working with Iqbal after so many years."
Her Role as Chandni Khanna
In Hui Gumm Yaadein, Delnaaz steps into the shoes of Chandni Khanna, a former superstar. Describing her character, she explained, "Chandni is an ex-superstar, reminiscent of a 90s heroine. She has a dedicated fandom and is flamboyant, but with age, she feels that no one will ask her anymore—not the paparazzi, not journalists, and not even her fans."
The role carries a powerful message about age shaming and body shaming, themes Delnaaz felt strongly needed to be addressed. She added, "The role conveys a significant message about age shaming and body shaming that I believed was important to tell."
Decision to Take the Cameo
When asked about her reasons for accepting the cameo, Delnaaz emphasized that the role itself was the deciding factor. "Usually, with a cameo, you look at how meaty the role is. As an actor, I wanted to understand the role deeply," she said, noting that the themes resonated with her personally.
This is not the first time Delnaaz has worked with Sobo Films. She previously appeared in their show Rajnandani. Her prior association with the production banner made the decision to take the cameo easier. "I really loved the whole setup. They are very professional, with very good people and a very good production team," she shared.
Working with Director Noel Smit
Praising director Noel Smit, Delnaaz remarked, "When the director is calm and knows the job so well, everything works smoothly." She added, "The production is so sorted, with an excellent cast and crew, and everyone was so respectful."
In a separate conversation, Delnaaz also spoke about her personal life, revealing her reluctance towards marriage due to superstitions.
