Duane Ollinger, the television personality best known for the show Mystery at Blind Frog Ranch, has passed away at the age of 68. He was widely recognized for his role alongside his son Chad in the search for a legendary cache of lost Aztec gold on his Utah property.
Duane Ollinger Passes Away at 68
TMZ confirmed that Duane Ollinger died at a hospital in Texas. In a statement released by his family, they revealed that Ollinger had been battling amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) and passed away after experiencing complications from the disease.
Ryan Skinner, who also appeared on Mystery at Blind Frog Ranch alongside Ollinger, shared a social media post paying tribute to the TV star. He wrote, “Sad to report that my good friend Duane Ollinger of Blind Frog Ranch passed away earlier today. Duane was a force of constant positivity, empathy, and encouragement to everyone. Whenever we talked he would always say to hell what anyone thinks, go out there and ‘TELL YOUR TRUTH!’”
Since last year, fans of the ranch owner and miner had been concerned about his health and debated whether he was okay. Additionally, in Season 6 of the show, which premiered on television last week, Josh Feldman officially replaced Ollinger as the lead and began searching for the treasure on Ollinger’s Utah property.
Fans Pay Tribute to Duane Ollinger
Many people took to their online accounts to pay their respects to the television personality. One person wrote, “This is heartbreaking news. Duane was the heart and soul of the show, and his grit and determination to uncover the ranch’s secrets made him so compelling to watch.” Another shared, “RIP Ollinger, you will be missed. I loved your show.”
Ollinger had previously worked as an oilman but gave up his job to become a miner in Utah. He believed there was cursed treasure on his property after discovering caves underneath the mountain, and he had been chasing the treasure since the show began in 2021.
