Ella Bright on 'Off Campus' Success and the Future
While speaking with Vanity Fair, Bright could not stop expressing her gratitude for the show, noting that many aspects of her life have changed due to the popularity and success it has achieved since the release of the first season. Bright shared that she never anticipated such a rapid rise, nor did she expect the show to become such a massive global phenomenon. She added, 'None of this was in my plan at all. It flipped my life upside down in the best way I could have ever dreamed about. Things are coming true for me that I never thought could happen.' Reflecting on her decision to take a chance on the show, Bright concluded, 'School's not going anywhere, but this show feels like lightning in a bottle, and I had to take it. I'm so glad I did.'
Ella Bright on Her Chemistry and Age Difference with Co-Star Belmont Cameli
During the interview, Bright also addressed what it was like to work with Cameli. When filming began, Bright was only 18 years old, while her co-star and on-screen love interest, Cameli, was a decade older. However, this did not pose any issues during filming, as Bright stated that the two had great chemistry from the start. 'When he came in, it just felt very genuine and real. We both cared about these characters so much that the relationship just formed from there.' She also called him one of her 'best friends' and added, 'When we spend that much time together on set, it is very, very easy to just become so close.'
Further on, she even joked about how Cameli had brought around seven suitcases worth of clothes with him, and that the cast would often play hide and seek, along with fashion dress-up parties. 'There was a bandana night, a hockey jersey night, a suit night—we were all in ties at one point,' she quipped, adding that the cast of the show has now officially become her family.
