Elon Musk, the world's richest man and owner of the AI chatbot Grok, is facing significant backlash on his own social media platform, X (formerly Twitter). The controversy stems from a post he shared about actress Sydney Sweeney's appearance, which many users have deemed inappropriate and "weird."
Musk's Controversial Post on Sweeney's Premiere Look
On Tuesday, Musk took to X to comment on the 26-year-old actress's attire at the Los Angeles premiere of her new psychological thriller, 'The Housemaid'. Sweeney had generated buzz by arriving on the red carpet in a striking white, low-cut dress.
In response to a video from the event, Musk posted a disjointed, AI-generated graphic. It featured a photo of a smiling woman with large breasts captioned "What it looks like." Below it was another image of an inflamed red spine and a video of a woman saying "owie" in a childish voice, implying back pain from large breasts. Musk captioned the post, "Can't be easy."
Netizens React: Calls of Inappropriateness and Age Gap
The post was quickly met with heavy criticism. Users highlighted the significant age difference between Musk and the much younger actress, calling his commentary inappropriate.
"She’s 30 years younger than you. Weird," wrote one user. Another trolled Musk by adding a photo of him bare-chested with the comment, "As if you don’t know." Other reactions ranged from disbelief to calls for him to focus on his other ventures.
- "He needs to be stopped…," one user stated.
- "Don’t you have a rocket to build or something?" quipped another.
- "Why do I feel like Elon forgot that he was on his main account?" joked a third.
Some even speculated about Musk's interest, with one pondering, "Does Elon Musk have a crush on Sydney Sweeney..I am always seeing him under every post that concerns her."
Sweeney Sets the Record Straight on Vanity Fair Lie Test
Interestingly, the topic of Sydney Sweeney's breasts was recently addressed head-on by the actress herself. In a recent episode of Vanity Fair's Lie Detector Test, Sweeney and her co-star Amanda Seyfried were hooked up to a polygraph.
Seyfried directly asked the question on many minds: "Are your boobs real?" Sweeney instantly replied, "Yes!" Not fully satisfied, Seyfried asked if she had ever had any work done on her breasts. Sweeney responded, "No, I’ve never gotten any work done anywhere."
The administrator of the polygraph judged her answers as being truthful, officially clearing the air on the long-standing speculation.
The incident has led many to draw parallels between Musk's provocative, often troublesome online persona and the reported character of Grok, the AI chatbot developed by his company xAI, suggesting the owner's influence is clearly embedded in its code.
