Farah Khan Opens Up About Tummy Tuck Surgery, IVF Journey at 43
Farah Khan reveals tummy tuck surgery, IVF struggles

In a remarkably candid conversation, celebrated Bollywood choreographer and filmmaker Farah Khan has opened up about her deeply personal health and motherhood journey, revealing she underwent a tummy tuck surgery years after giving birth to triplets. Speaking with Soha Ali Khan on her podcast, Farah reflected on the physical and emotional challenges of embracing pregnancy later in life and her subsequent commitment to self-care.

The Turning Point: Self-Care After 50

Farah Khan, who has been charming audiences with her humorous and honest YouTube vlogs, admitted that for most of her peak career years, her own well-being was never a priority. She described a grueling work schedule where personal appearance took a backseat. "I see some of my old videos. Though now I feel, 'Oh my God, I used to be very thin till I had the kids,'" she shared, recalling a time when she was too busy for even a basic blow-dry due to non-stop shooting schedules that blended day and night shifts.

It was only after she crossed the age of 50 that she made a conscious decision to change. She humorously compared her new regimen to maintaining an old car. "They say na 'abhi jab gaadi purani ho jaati hai, uska servicing zyada hota hai. Usko garage mein dekho,'" she said, explaining that she now regularly consults a skin doctor and goes for hair vitamin treatments as part of her routine maintenance.

Motherhood at 43 and a Humorous Mix-Up

Farah Khan chose to become a mother at the age of 43, a decision that came with its own set of complexities. She revealed that her children were just seven years old when she turned 50, which motivated her to stay youthful. "So I was like, when I go to school, my kids should not feel ke grandmother has come to drop them. So kids also keep us young," she explained.

In her signature witty style, she recounted a hilarious incident where her husband, filmmaker-editor Shirish Kunder, was mistaken for her son during a family holiday. "I was like literally overweight and all. And the lady came, Shirish was there, and she said, 'Can I clean your room? And can you ask your son to leave then?'" Farah added that Shirish absolutely loves it when such mix-ups happen.

The Physical Aftermath of Pregnancy and IVF Struggles

The director did not shy away from discussing the lasting physical impact of her pregnancy. She disclosed that four to five years after giving birth, she opted for a tummy tuck procedure to address the excessive loose skin that remained. "At one point, after four-five years I had to go and do a tummy tuck surgery, because there was so much extra skin, it was horrible," Farah stated. Her current wellness routine also includes lymphatic massages and regular IV drips.

This is not the first time Farah has spoken about the difficult road to motherhood. In a previous chat with tennis star Sania Mirza, she detailed her intense IVF experience. She underwent the process three times, facing two failures before finally being blessed with triplets on her third attempt.

She described the immense physical toll of carrying triplets. "Because I was carrying triplets, everything was three times more intense," she recalled. "I would throw up constantly, and my body broke out in rashes. I had rashes all over my stomach. I could barely sleep, at any time, one of the babies was pressing on my bladder. I practically lived in the loo."

Farah Khan's frank discussion sheds light on the realities of late pregnancy, the challenges of IVF, and the ongoing journey of a woman reclaiming her body and health years after childbirth.
