Rohtak: Expressing dissatisfaction with the pace of investigation into the death of a 19-year-old playschool teacher, the victim's father announced on Sunday that he would launch an indefinite hunger strike at the mini-secretariat in Bhiwani if justice is not delivered within the next 21 days. The case is being probed by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
Khap Mahapanchayat Issues Ultimatum
During a Khap Mahapanchayat at Dhani Laxman, the victim Manisha's native village, her father, Sanjay, said he would sit on a hunger strike in front of the DC office to get justice for his daughter. The Sangharsh Samiti, constituted to spearhead the agitation for justice, issued a 21-day ultimatum to the authorities. Committee members stated that if no concrete progress is made in the case within the stipulated period, they would launch an indefinite hunger strike outside the deputy commissioner's office on June 29.
Background of the Case
Manisha's body was found on August 13, 2025, two days after she went missing. Her family has consistently alleged that she was murdered. The CBI is conducting the investigation, but the family maintains that the agency has made no significant disclosure in the case so far. Addressing the Mahapanchayat, several speakers alleged that more than nine months had passed since the case was handed over to the CBI, yet the agency had not identified or disclosed any accused. A 15-member committee was also formed during the gathering to determine the future course of agitation and intensify the campaign for justice.
Committee member Mewa Singh Arya said, "We must take a pledge to consider Manisha as our own daughter and ensure justice for her. We have been fighting this battle through constitutional means from the very beginning."

The 19-year-old teacher went missing on August 11, 2025, after leaving her home to seek admission to a nursing college.
