Mumbai: The Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) has imposed a three-month ban on Bollywood actor Ranveer Singh for shooting an advertisement without the required permissions. The decision was taken during a meeting of the FWICE on Thursday, citing a violation of industry norms.
Reason for the Ban
According to the FWICE, Ranveer Singh shot for a commercial without obtaining a no-objection certificate (NOC) from the association. This act is considered a breach of the code of conduct established by the FWICE to regulate film and television shoots in Mumbai. The ban prevents Singh from participating in any film, television, or advertising projects during the three-month period.
Industry Reaction
The FWICE's move has sparked discussions within the Bollywood community. While some support the decision as a necessary step to uphold industry regulations, others view it as a harsh measure. The actor's team has not yet issued an official statement regarding the ban.
Ranveer Singh, known for his energetic performances in films like Padmaavat and Gully Boy, was recently seen in the film Jayeshbhai Jordaar. The ban could affect his upcoming projects, though the actor has a busy schedule lined up.
Previous Incidents
This is not the first time the FWICE has taken disciplinary action against a celebrity. In the past, the body has banned actors and technicians for similar violations. The FWICE emphasizes that such measures are necessary to maintain discipline and ensure fair practices in the industry.
The ban is effective immediately and will last until the end of the three-month period. Ranveer Singh has the option to appeal the decision, according to FWICE officials.
