A 25-year-old man was arrested by Ghaziabad police following a gunfight in the Loni Border area for allegedly raping a 13-year-old girl. The incident came to light after the victim's father filed a complaint on May 30, stating that his daughter was raped by the accused three months ago, resulting in pregnancy.
Accused Identification and Initial Complaint
The accused has been identified as Siraj, a resident of Loni Border. According to Siddharth Gautam, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) for Loni and Ankur Vihar, a case was registered under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), and a special team was formed to apprehend the suspect.
Encounter Details
In the early hours of Monday, a police team from Loni Border police station was conducting routine checks on Sevadhaam to Teelamod Road. They spotted an individual approaching on a scooter. When police attempted to stop him, the suspect opened fire with the intention to kill and tried to flee towards GDA Ground. The police team chased and surrounded him, during which he again fired at the officers.
In self-defence, the police returned fire, hitting Siraj in the calf of his right leg. He was immediately taken to a nearby hospital for treatment and is now in stable condition.
Recovered Items
From the injured accused, police recovered a country-made pistol of .315 bore, one live cartridge of .315 bore, one empty cartridge case of .315 bore, and the scooter he was riding.
