Ghaziabad: An 18-year-old woman allegedly died by suicide in a hotel room in Vijay Nagar on Thursday night, minutes after she met a man there, police said. A 19-year-old man has been detained for abetment of suicide. Police suspect the two had a fight before she killed herself.
Incident Details
ACP Kotwali Upasna Pandey said investigators were informed of the incident by the staff of Ansh Hotel and Guest House. A team reached the spot and collected CCTV footage, which showed that the woman came to the hotel around noon and went to the room where the man was already present. Around 8pm, he left the hotel and the woman’s body was discovered around 10 pm.
Family's Account
The ACP said the girl's family was also questioned. The girl's mother said she had an argument with her daughter for being too close to the man, who is from another community. The body has been sent for autopsy and reports are awaited. However, the girl’s family has not lodged a written complaint yet.
Investigation Ongoing
Police are examining the CCTV footage and questioning witnesses. The man detained is being interrogated to ascertain the exact sequence of events. Authorities are awaiting the post-mortem report to determine the cause of death.
