HC Notice to Accused in Akanksha Dubey Death Case

The Allahabad High Court on Friday issued notice to two accused in the Bhojpuri actress Akanksha Dubey death case on a petition seeking a CBI inquiry. The court fixed May 22 for the next hearing in the matter. The judgment was originally scheduled to be delivered during the day, but the court stated that a fresh hearing on certain points is necessary.

Mother Alleges Murder

Akanksha's mother filed the plea, alleging that her daughter was murdered by Samar Singh and Sanjay Singh. The actress's body was found in a hotel at Sarnath in Varanasi in 2023. Police initially ruled it a suicide, but the mother raised questions on the investigation, claiming it was not a suicide but a murder.

Court Proceedings

A bench comprising justices Sidharth and Vinai Kumar Dwivedi issued notices to Samarjeet Singh alias Samar Singh and Sanjay Singh. The court also directed the Station House Officer of Sarnath to file a counter affidavit. Failure to do so will result in his presence before the court on May 22.
