Trigger Warning: This article contains references to suicide.

Last year in July, the legendary WWE star and Hollywood actor Hulk Hogan passed away at the age of 71 due to a sudden heart attack. Now, nearly a year after his death, a new docuseries titled Hulk Hogan: Real American has been released on a popular social media platform, offering an intimate look into his life and struggles.

Hulk Hogan Considered Ending His Life After Split with Linda Hogan

One of the most revealing segments of the documentary includes a clip of Hogan discussing his separation from his ex-wife, Linda Hogan. In his final interview before his passing, the wrestling icon opened up about a dark period in his life, admitting that he had contemplated suicide after their split.

During the four-part documentary, Hogan confessed to the producers that he was not in a good place mentally. He revealed that he had gotten drunk and taken pills, spiraling into a dangerous state. “I went home and I started drinking and you know started eating pills, and I just went down this rabbit hole for a couple days and the next thing I know, I'm sitting in front of my bathroom with a gun in my mouth and not knowing what I was doing,” he said.

The couple separated in early 2009, and Hogan also reflected on how his marriage began to fall apart after he pitched the idea of starring in the reality show Hogan Knows Best. He had hoped the show would bring his family closer together, but instead, it had the opposite effect.

More About Hulk Hogan and the Documentary

The docuseries focuses on Hogan's rise to fame in the WWE, his personal life, and his 26-year marriage to Linda Hogan, whom he married in 1983. It also covers the challenges he faced, including his health issues and the emotional toll of his divorce.
