Indians are known to be living in numerous countries across the globe. They say you pick a place on the map and you will find an Indian there. However, there is one country where finding an Indian is a bit of an anomaly. The countries have a history that goes back decades and still share tensions along the borders.
Thus, imagine everyone's surprise when an Indian creator shared that she had lived for three years in Pakistan and wanted to share how life in the country truly was. In a video shared on Instagram, content creator Harshneet Kaur offered a glimpse into her everyday life in the neighbouring country.
"As an Indian who lived in Pakistan for three years, here are some things I love about Pakistan," she said. She said the people, the markets, everywhere they went in the country, people were always so welcoming. "Because my dad wears a turban, they would always be like, 'Sardaar ji, tusssi aithey cha pee ke jana, khana kha ke jana.' They would never let us go without eating," the woman shared.
Since they lived in Islamabad, the capital of Pakistan, Kaur said she especially loved the mountains. "Anywhere you walked in Islamabad, you could see mountains and hills from anywhere. There's this place called Margalla Hills in Islamabad; it's beautiful. In the morning, afternoon, whenever we used to walk around, you could see the mountains and the hills anywhere," she added.
She also suggested Murree, about an hour and a half's drive from Islamabad, saying one could see the entire city from there. "You sit at this viewpoint, and there are kebabs, there are restaurants, and there's this beautiful viewpoint. At night, the city used to look so beautiful from up there. This has to be a personal favourite," she mentioned.
Kaur further revealed that she attended an international school in Islamabad and on Pakistan's Independence Day, the school would bring in camels, cows and other animals to allow students to interact with them. Moreover, the sports facilities at the school were also excellent. She was a part of both the track and swimming teams. Kaur said her three years in Pakistan left her with a deep affection for its people, landscapes and culture.
Social Media Reactions
Netizens were shocked to see Kaur's positive experience in the country, considering not many Indians are known to have visited it.
"This way you are cherishing your days spent there, it's OK, otherwise, how they are treating the minority, please mention that as well the bitter truth of their warm heart," said one netizen.
"Girl how did you come to Pakistan," asked another.
"How can an Indian live in Pakistan? Why is it always Indians getting Pakistani visa but not Pakistanis getting Indian visa" one questioned.
"Hoping to stop hate between two countries.. .. love and peace all the way" a user wrote.
"That's why you shouldn't believe the hate mongering Media. Living in uae we've met hundreds of Pakistanis and everyone is always warm and friendly and respectful, especially to women," another added.
