ISKCON Bengaluru has released a new Kannada Mahakavya dedicated to Srila Prabhupada, the founder of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness. The epic poem, titled 'Srila Prabhupada Mahakavya', was penned by the renowned poet Kabbinale Vasanta Bharadwaj. It is composed in the rare Ashtadashapadi Gitamala metre, a classical poetic form that adds to the work's literary and spiritual significance.
Poetic Achievement
The Mahakavya is a monumental work that celebrates the life and teachings of Srila Prabhupada. Kabbinale Vasanta Bharadwaj, known for his mastery of Kannada poetry, has employed the Ashtadashapadi Gitamala metre, which consists of eighteen verses per stanza. This metre is rarely used in modern Kannada literature, making the work a unique contribution to the language's poetic heritage.
Literary and Spiritual Significance
The release of this Mahakavya highlights the deep cultural and spiritual connection between the Kannada language and the ISKCON movement. The poem not only honors Srila Prabhupada but also serves as a medium to spread his message of devotion and universal love. The use of classical metre enhances the devotional experience, allowing readers to engage with the text on multiple levels.
ISKCON Bengaluru officials expressed their delight at the release, stating that the work would inspire devotees and literature enthusiasts alike. The Mahakavya is expected to become a cherished addition to Kannada literary circles and spiritual literature.
