Janhvi Kapoor, who plays the female lead in the upcoming sports action drama 'Peddi' starring Ram Charan, has reportedly chosen to stay away from the film's promotional activities. Directed by Buchi Babu Sana, 'Peddi' is set for a theatrical release on June 4, with the trailer scheduled to drop on May 18. However, Kapoor's absence from the promotions has sparked widespread discussion online.
Janhvi Kapoor Not Part of Promotions?
According to a report by Deccan Chronicle, Kapoor may not participate in the film's promotions. Sources suggest that her role in the movie is limited, and the makers gave her the option to decide whether to join the promotions. The 'Devera' actress reportedly chose to stay away because she did not want audiences to expect a larger role in the film. Neither Kapoor nor the makers of 'Peddi' have officially confirmed these reports.
There are also rumors that Kapoor agreed to do the film because she was paid more than her usual fee for Hindi films.
Janhvi Kapoor's Role as Achiyamma
In 'Peddi', Kapoor plays the female lead named Achiyamma. The makers have released her look in songs, including the soulful 'Chikiri Chikiri' and the energetic dance track 'Rai Rai Raa Raa'. Interestingly, the role of Achiyamma was initially pitched to Kapoor's sister, Khushi.
Director Buchi Babu Sana's Revelation
Director Buchi Babu Sana recently revealed that he first narrated the film to Khushi Kapoor but felt she was too young for the role. Speaking to M9, he said, "I initially narrated the film to Khushi Kapoor. But once I saw her in person, I realised that she's too young for this character. Now, imagine when I have to reject Khushi and give narration to Janhvi in the same home. I felt bad and asked Janhvi if Khushi didn't take offence."
