Jay Z Accuses Lawyer of Tampering in Diddy-Related Lawsuit

Earlier, Jay Z was named in a lawsuit connected to incarcerated rapper Sean 'Diddy' Combs, alleging involvement in the rape of a woman. Jay Z has denied all claims and, according to latest updates, has accused the lawyer of tampering with the case. Here is what we know so far.

Jay Z Accuses Lawyer Tony Buzbee of Deceiving Clients

RadarOnline reported that lawyer Tony Buzbee and his team allegedly convinced the unnamed victim to withdraw the case, also claiming that Jay Z had sent her death threats. Jay Z maintained his innocence, stating he made no such threats. He alleged that the threats were introduced to tilt the case's perspective, but were supposedly a move by the lawyer to tip the scales.

Jay Z claimed that Buzbee and his legal team attempted to bury the case before any investigation into his activities as a lawyer. After the lawsuit was filed, Jay Z continued to claim innocence and even filed his own lawsuit against the lawyer and the alleged victim. A statement from Jay Z's lawyer read: 'Defendant Fortney falsely (and outrageously) even told Doe that Carter had threatened to kill her in order to convince her to dismiss the Underlying Action, so that he and Buzbee could avoid sanctions for their unauthorized practice of law.'

The report also cited that Buzbee allegedly used the official credentials of a New York attorney to file lawsuits. Jay Z's claims cited that Tony was not technically allowed to file such cases in the state, but was able to do so because of this incident.

More Details About the Lawsuit Against Jay Z

Initially, the lawsuit was filed against him in 2024, with allegations that he and Diddy raped a 13-year-old girl at the MTV Video Music Awards afterparty. A month later, Jay Z filed a lawsuit against the unnamed person and the lawyer, alleging malicious prosecution, abuse of process, and civil conspiracy. He also filed a separate defamation lawsuit against the unnamed person.

While their lawsuit was dismissed in 2025, Jay Z continued his claims that the lawyer had allegedly abused his power to deceive clients.
