Chandigarh witnessed a significant gathering of over 100 entrepreneurs from the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe communities at an outreach programme organized by the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) on Monday. The initiative was designed to foster entrepreneurship among these communities and enhance their access to procurement opportunities and financial resources.
Event Highlights
The Entrepreneur Awareness and Special Vendor Development Programme was held at the CII Northern Region headquarters in Sector 31-A. Its primary objective was to connect SC/ST entrepreneurs with government buyers and financial institutions, thereby bridging the gap between these businesses and mainstream economic opportunities.
Key Schemes and Sessions
Organized in collaboration with the Dalit Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the event shed light on several crucial government initiatives, including the National SC-ST Hub (NSSH). This scheme is specifically designed to enhance procurement opportunities for micro and small enterprises owned by SC/ST entrepreneurs. Officials strongly encouraged participants to register on the Udyam portal to formalize their businesses and improve their eligibility for various government schemes.
The programme featured comprehensive sessions covering a wide range of topics such as vendor registration, e-tendering processes, documentation requirements, credit access, and subsidy support. These sessions aimed to equip entrepreneurs with the knowledge needed to navigate the formal business ecosystem effectively.
Stakeholder Participation
Representatives from numerous Central Public Sector Enterprises (CPSEs), banks, and institutions actively participated in the event. Notable attendees included officials from GeM (Government e-Marketplace), BBMB (Bhakra Beas Management Board), Powergrid Corporation, Food Corporation of India (FCI), Exim Bank, IIT Ropar, State Bank of India (SBI), and Punjab National Bank. These stakeholders provided valuable guidance on vendor empanelment and funding avenues, helping entrepreneurs understand the procedures to become part of government supply chains.
Direct Interaction and Networking
The programme facilitated direct interaction between entrepreneurs and key stakeholders, with a strong emphasis on easing entry into supply chains and expanding market linkages. This face-to-face engagement allowed participants to clarify doubts, seek personalized advice, and build networks that could prove instrumental in growing their businesses.
Overall, the outreach programme marked a significant step towards empowering SC/ST entrepreneurs in Chandigarh, equipping them with the tools and connections necessary to thrive in a competitive market environment.
