Jordyn Woods' Lucky Orange Bag Becomes Knicks' Good Luck Charm in NBA Finals
Jordyn Woods' Lucky Bag Fuels Knicks' Finals Run

Jordyn Woods did not set out to become a talisman. But somewhere between a signature orange bag and a Madison Square Garden crowd shaking so hard the floor vibrated, that is exactly what happened.

Woods, the fashion designer and fiancée of New York Knicks center Karl-Anthony Towns, has become one of the defining sideline figures of the 2026 NBA Finals. Ahead of Game 5 against the San Antonio Spurs, she opened up about her game-day rituals, her famous lucky purse, and what it has felt like to watch New York's basketball faithful transform an entire city.

How Jordyn Woods' lucky purse became the Knicks' unofficial good luck charm

The orange bag was never supposed to mean anything. Woods was clear about that. "It happened very organically. It wasn't intentional. I was never the one that was like, 'This is the lucky bag. Everyone needs to say that,'" she told The Hollywood Reporter. "I didn't create the phenomenon, social media did, but I'm definitely loving it."

The bag, from her own "Woods by Jordyn" label, gained traction as fans noticed a pattern: when Woods brought it to games, the Knicks won. When she could not, they did not. The pressure mounted quickly. "It is immense pressure," she admitted, "that the one time I couldn't bring the bag, and we lost."

When a no-bag policy went into effect at MSG during Game 3 of the Finals, Woods improvised without hesitation. She swapped the purse for a pair of matching tangerine orange ostrich shoes, keeping the color, if not the accessory. New York won Game 4 anyway.

'The floor was actually vibrating' after OG Anunoby's Game 4 heroics

Game 4 at Madison Square Garden produced one of the more visceral crowd moments Woods has experienced since Towns joined the Knicks. After OG Anunoby's game-sealing basket sent the building into chaos, the sensation was physical. "The ceiling after OG put the shot back, the floor was actually vibrating," she said. "You could feel the room was shaking; it was so crazy."

That moment captured something Woods has been processing throughout this entire postseason run: the singular intensity of New York's basketball fandom. "The city is unlike anything I've ever seen. I've never seen a fandom like this, and no matter who the person is, they're fully there, cheering on their team. No shame. No one's trying to be too cool or too anything."

She said the effects extend well beyond the arena. "Crime's down in the city, people are coming together, the economy is booming, people's small businesses are doing better. There's a lot of positivity coming out of the Knicks winning."

Karl Towns Sr. never leaves her side at Knicks games

Through every home and away game in the Finals, Woods has had one constant companion in the stands. Karl Towns Sr., Towns' father, sits beside her at every game, including Saturday's Game 5 in San Antonio. It is a detail that matters to her. Towns Sr. has been a steady, grounding presence throughout what has become an emotionally charged run.

As for Towns himself, she said his reaction to the whole lucky-purse saga has been entirely on brand. "He's here for it. He's always been my biggest support, my No. 1 support. So he's loving that both of us get to win in the process."

Woods described her game-day preparation with the same specificity she brings to the bag. She does her own makeup, films a get-ready-with-me before deciding whether to post it, packs Reese's x Oreos as an emergency snack, and selects her outfit the night before or sometimes two hours out. Road games call for more casual looks, she noted, because navigating an unfamiliar arena adds enough unpredictability already.

Heading into a potential closeout game, she is keeping expectations managed and emotions in check. "I feel the same. I'm excited; I'm nervous; I'm ready to just send all the positive vibes and energy." As for any championship plans, the couple has made none. "We have not planned anything, we're like 'Let's just get through each day as it comes.'" She did add one detail: "I am in my bridal era, so we have a lot to look forward to."

The orange shoes are packed. What happens next is up to the Knicks.
