Justin Bieber Surprises at FIFA World Cup 2026 Opener

Justin Bieber made a surprise appearance at the opening match of the FIFA World Cup 2026, drawing attention from thousands of fans inside SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles. The Canadian singer attended the United States' Group D clash against Paraguay on June 12 alongside his wife and Rhode founder, Hailey Bieber. Cameras frequently focused on the celebrity couple as they enjoyed the opening ceremony from the stands.

The pair quickly became a talking point on social media. While Justin appeared relaxed and energetic throughout the event, a reported exchange between him and Hailey sparked interest online. A professional lip reader claimed Hailey looked frustrated during part of the evening and appeared to question an ongoing situation around them. Their appearance also fueled fresh discussion among football fans, especially because Justin chose to attend the United States' opener instead of Canada's first World Cup match.

Justin Bieber looked in high spirits throughout the opening ceremony. The singer wore a pink zip-up jacket, a beige cap, and oversized sunglasses. He was seen singing along to the music and dancing before kick-off as the stadium celebrated the start of the tournament. Hailey Bieber sat beside him and spent much of the event chatting with her husband and friends. The lip-reading expert Nicola Hickling told The Mirror US, Hailey appeared annoyed at one point. She reportedly told Justin that she had already spoken to people about a situation and expected it to be resolved soon. She also seemed confused about why the issue had not been fixed.

Justin allegedly responded by suggesting that the situation was not being handled appropriately. One of their friends then commented on the extreme weather conditions, saying the heat inside the venue felt unusually intense.

The celebrity couple's appearance quickly generated reactions online. Many fans were excited to see them at the World Cup. Some praised Justin's look, while others joked that he appeared as though he had just rolled out of bed before arriving at the stadium.

Not everyone was impressed, however. Several fans questioned why the Canadian star attended the United States' opening match rather than Canada's. A fan wrote, "Wasn't it in their own country but in the US's?" Some fans pointed out that his home nation was also competing in the tournament and wondered why he was not supporting them instead. Another wrote, "For the opening of his country, he's not going, right?" Another commented, "Justin and Hailey at the World Cup? LA really gets every random crossover." A fan commented, "Need the camera on them more". Justin's appearance has also increased speculation that he could perform during the World Cup Final halftime show on July 19. Betting markets have listed him among the favorites to appear as a surprise guest. While no official announcement has been made, the final's entertainment lineup already includes Madonna, Shakira, and BTS. The historic halftime show is being curated by Coldplay frontman Chris Martin and will support FIFA's Global Citizen Education Fund.
