Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut has come out in support of Ranveer Singh following the controversy surrounding his exit from the upcoming film 'Don 3' and the subsequent boycott by a workers' union. She stated that such obstacles are a natural part of growth in the film industry.
Kangana Ranaut's Statement on Ranveer Singh's Controversy
The Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) issued a non-cooperation directive against Singh last month after he exited actor-filmmaker Farhan Akhtar's 'Don 3'. The directive asks over four lakh workers not to collaborate with Singh on his future projects. Ranaut, known for her outspoken nature, addressed the issue during the trailer launch of her upcoming film 'Bharat Bhhagya Vidhaata' in Mumbai.
Ranaut remarked that it is impossible for anyone to rise in the industry without making enemies. She encouraged Singh to view the backlash as a sign of his growing prominence. 'I've been banned by everybody. When your stature grows, you end up making enemies as well; it is impossible that you grow without making enemies. Now, Ranveer Singh should think about his stature because he has so many enemies, so it's a good thing,' she told reporters.
Drawing from Personal Experience
The 'Queen' star reflected on her own journey, noting that she has faced numerous bans and controversies but continues to thrive. 'When you move forward in life, many obstacles come your way, you can't always have a smooth walk. There's so much that has happened with me and today I'm doing well for myself, everything moving along smoothly. Eventually, it's all going to be fine,' she added.
Background of the Don 3 Controversy
The non-cooperation directive against Singh followed a complaint filed by Akhtar and his producing partner Ritesh Sidhwani with the Indian Film and Television Directors' Association (IFTDA). The issue was then referred to FWICE for intervention. 'Don 3', a reboot of the popular franchise, has been in development for three years but had not yet begun shooting. Producers claim that over Rs 45 crore was spent on pre-production.
Upcoming Film of Kangana Ranaut
Ranaut's 'Bharat Bhhagya Viddhaata', written and directed by Manoj Tapadia, is scheduled for release on June 12. The film is produced by PEN Studios, Manikarnika Films, and Paramhans Creations, in association with Eunoia Films LLP and Floating Rocks Entertainment Pvt. Ltd.
